Redmond, King County
Dryer vent cleaning in Redmond costs $105 to $265. Shortest ducts, those venting straight out at ground level, sit at the low price. A long run, an exit on the roof or the second story, or a bird nest in the hood moves it higher. Nothing is skipped between the dryer's outlet and the exterior flap, and an airflow reading closes the job.

Redmond's housing is unusually mixed, and so are its dryer ducts. Census estimates show 36.3% of units as single-family detached and 27.3% in buildings of 50 units or more, with 22.1% of all units built during the 2010s alone. A detached house may have a short duct through the nearest wall. A townhouse or a stacked unit can have a laundry closet in the middle of the floor plan and a duct that travels a long way to daylight.
Redmond grew from about 1,500 residents in 1961 to 11,020 in 1970, and 8,224 of its housing units still date from 1960 to 1979 in the Census estimates. A house of that vintage has been through several dryers and possibly a remodel that moved the laundry.
Each move tends to lengthen the duct or add a bend, and older runs may include flexible foil sections hidden in a wall or crawl space. We record what the duct is made of along its whole length. Where a section should be replaced with rigid metal, that goes in the note with the reason.
Every dryer vent cleaning we do in Redmond includes:
Smoke coming back into the room, or a smell that won't go? Book the inspection first.
Book nowNationwide, by the U.S. Fire Administration's estimate, residential buildings see 2,900 clothes dryer fires a year. In 34 percent of them the leading contributing factor is a failure to clean, and January is the peak month. January is also deep in Redmond's wet season, when laundry is dried indoors every time and the outside hood is the last thing anyone goes out to look at.
A dryer duct is held together by slip joints and tape. Redmond's hazard annex says the city sits on a liquefaction zone, which makes ground shaking more damaging, and notes that about one residential structure in ten lies in the landslide hazard zone. Washington DNR gives the Puget Sound region 85% odds, across 50 years, of a deep earthquake at magnitude 6.5 or above.
A joint that has slipped apart inside a wall or crawl space blows lint and damp air into the structure, and nothing looks wrong from the laundry room. Our airflow test catches it: a strong draft at the dryer with a weak one at the hood means the air is leaving somewhere in between. On a gas dryer we also check the gas connector behind the machine.
With the dryer on, we take an airflow reading outdoors at the hood. That is the number to beat.
The dryer is moved, the transition hose comes off, and the gas line, where there is one, is handled with care.
A rotary brush on flexible rods works the duct while a vacuum collects the lint. Roof exits are cleaned from above when the pitch permits.
The termination is emptied and we make sure the damper flap swings open and shuts again.
The dryer goes back, the hose is clamped, and the second airflow reading is written on your invoice next to the first.

Cleaning installs nothing. Changing the duct is another matter: Dryer Vent appears by name among the fixtures on the City of Redmond's mechanical permit application, published in February 2025.
The standard a new or rerouted duct has to meet is in chapter 15 of the 2021 Washington residential code: the 35-foot limit with its elbow deductions, a backdraft damper, no screen, and an outdoor termination with 3 feet of clearance to any building opening. If our cleaning shows your duct breaks one of those, the note says which.
Redmond is a city of a little over 17 square miles around the northern tip of Lake Sammamish, on the Sammamish River, with homes with a median build year of 1993, close to a quarter of them built in the 1960s and 1970s. We work every part of it — Education Hill, Grass Lawn, Idylwood, North Redmond, Overlake included.

Four steps, each one on paper — so you always know what happens next.
Choose a genuine opening on the crew's calendar. Confirmation is immediate.
Liner, crown, cap, flashing and masonry examined in order — each finding photographed.
One document, plain numbers, covering only the work your chimney genuinely needs.
The repair is completed, then handed over with before-and-after photos of every item.
From $105 for a short ground-level duct up to $265 for long, high or blocked ones. We confirm which before starting.
For a 4-inch metal exhaust duct the cap is 35 feet under section M1502 of the state's 2021 residential code, and every 90-degree elbow uses up 5 of them. We count your elbows and tell you where you stand.
Not a screen. The same code section forbids screens at the termination and requires a backdraft damper instead. A hood with a working flap is the compliant answer.
No separate visit is needed for a cleaning. The $99 plus tax evaluation applies to chimneys, and it is credited when a chimney repair quote is approved.
