Duvall, King County
Creosote removal in Duvall is priced from $215. That entry figure handles dry, flaky deposits that a stiff brush lifts in one visit. Sticky tar and hard glaze are another matter: they call for rotary tools or a chemical treatment left to work between two visits, and the quote says so before anything starts.

Of the four towns on our route, this is the one where creosote matters most, for a reason the Census supplies: Duvall has the highest estimated share of households whose main heat is wood. A stove throttled down overnight through a 37-degree December low sends cool, slow smoke up the flue, and cool smoke is what condenses on the liner.
The Census estimate for Duvall is 125 households heating primarily with wood, in a town of 2,787 occupied homes. Treat the count loosely, since its margin is 113 either way; the proportion, near 4.5 percent, is still the highest of our four towns and far above the county's.
A stove used as the furnace burns for more hours, and more of those hours at low output, than a fireplace lit for an evening. That pattern is what builds second- and third-degree creosote. For such a household we recommend looking at the flue mid-winter as well as in the fall, in line with the eighth-of-an-inch rule CSIA publishes.
Every creosote removal we do in Duvall includes:
Smoke coming back into the room, or a smell that won't go? Book the inspection first.
Book nowGlaze is the form to worry about. CSIA's homeowner guidance puts the ordinary sweeping threshold at soot one eighth of an inch thick, and moves that date forward the moment glaze is seen. Glazed creosote is dense fuel bonded to the flue wall. In its September 2026 release the State Fire Marshal attributes 77 percent of 2024's residential heating fires to chimneys and flues.
The opacity rule applies on every day of the year, ban or no ban: a chimney plume darker than 20 percent opacity, sustained for six minutes straight inside any hour, is a violation in Puget Sound Clean Air Agency's territory. The fuel list is short as well. Seasoned wood and manufactured logs are allowed; garbage, plastics, rubber, paints and treated lumber are all barred by WAC 173-433-120.
The fires that break that rule are the same smoldering fires that tar a flue. Clearing the creosote restores draft, and a flue that pulls well lets the stove burn hot and clean with the air control open.
The camera shows whether we face powder, flakes, tar or glaze, and at what height each one begins.
Loose and flaky material is taken out first so the stubborn layer is exposed.
A modifier is applied to hardened deposits; once it has turned them brittle, they are broken away.
The liner is recorded end to end, and any damage the creosote was hiding is pointed out.

Usually fuel and air. The state's Ecology department says to split firewood, stack it, keep a cover over it and wait no less than a year; wetter wood and a stove starved of air both make cooler smoke, which deposits tar.
For brushable deposits in one flue, often yes. Glaze is dearer, because of the modifier and the return trip; that figure reaches you in writing first.
Possibly, and we only know once it is clean. If the footage shows cracks, we quote the repair. A separate full inspection, when one is warranted, is $99 plus tax and that sum is deducted from repair work you approve.
